Blue Note
The label started in 1939 as the leader label of Blue Note Records, a record company from New York. Focused on jazz swing recordings through the 1940s. Later Blue Note became a label of EMI. 1985 relaunched as part of Capitol Records subsidiary Manhattan Records in 1985. In 2012, Blue Note's president, and the label's owner, EMI, was purchased by the Universal Music Group.
